Slimfold is the ORIGINAL prefinished steel bifold door for closet openings. This line of doors is so unique that Slimfold is the ONLY manufacturer of these durable bifolds. The original steel bifold door was created in post-WWII Detroit, Michigan at the Ternes Steel Company, a plant that originally built military Quonset Huts. A few years later in 1954, a Ternes engineer (by the name of Ford, of course) designed a steel bifold door using the plant’s competency in steel forming. The rest is history.

Slimfold is now produced by Dunbarton Corporation in Dothan, Alabama with the same crafting (and some design elements) that made the original Slimfold bifold door a favorite of builders and homeowners. Slimfold has kept up with the times by producing six innovative, yet timeless, designs: Louver II, Classic, Westchester, Lancaster, Regency, and Flush. The basics of the Slimfold bifold door are simple: Include durable hardware, customize panels depending upon style, add electrostatically-applied paint, factory-install hardware, and ship with a Limited Lifetime Warranty! With just a few common tools, any opening can accommodate a Slimfold bifold door (see literature for standard measurements). Standard sizes fit openings from 1’6” to 6’0” (457mm to 1829mm). Standard opening height is 6’8” (2045mm)
